ARRIVAL TO ESTONIA

Tartu is situated in southern Estonia and connects to the world through recently reopened Tartu Airport and Lennart Meri Airport in Tallinn.

The distance between Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, and Tartu is approximately 200 kilometers, or about 2.5 hours by express coach or car. You can find most Estonian bus lines on the web site http://www.tpilet.ee/.

Tartu bus terminal is situated near the center of town and is close to the University Main Building. If it is your first time in Tartu, it is best to take a taxi to get to your final destination in the city. Most taxi drivers speak some English and all taxis are equipped with meters. Suggested taxi numbers are: 1210,  +372 5344 4000 and +372 5749 5749.

Citizens from EU, USA, New Zealand, Canada or Australia do not need a visa to enter and you also do not need one, if you are travelling with a Schengen visa. Find more information about visa requirements here.

Estonia joined the euro-zone in the beginning of 2011 – and now, euro is the official currency. Credit cards such as Visa and Mastercard/Eurocard etc. are accepted in most of the major hotels, restaurants and shops. Use of American Express is not as common.

Estonia has full mobile coverage and in city centrals, wireless is free and widely available.
