- bioengineering and systems biology

- systems biology (progress and problems in biology and medicine)

- introduction to modeling (various principal approaches + some examples and cases)

- computational biology: large data repositories, databases, interoperability serving systems biology


11.00 - 11.15 Coffee break

11.15 – 13.00 Hands-on work: Egils Stalidzans, Ivars Mozga (Latvia University of Agriculture, Faculty of Information Technology, Biosystems Group)
- development of a small quantitative dynamic model using COPASI software,

- experiment-based parameter estimation of the model,

- simulations and optimisation of the model.
